My Summer Vacation

Hiiiiiii!!! Miss me?

Things have been CRAZY here this last month. I swear every time I try to touch my sewing machine I end up out of the house doing who knows what. Not that I mind too much, we have been having loads of fun. We splurged and got the girls a big bounce house and went retro and got a sprinkler for the yard as well. My days have been spent bouncing and supervising the goings on outside. I did however manage to get some stuff done.

This is my April Showers quilt. I used a Moda Bakeshop pattern. It was super easy to make and went together well. Any complications I had were due to my own error. Like when I had a new blade on my cutter I had a couple whoopsies that required a hurried charm pack purchase. Or when I ran out of binding about 6 inches from the end. That was a treat. The best part was when I got it about 90% quilted and decided not only did I not like it but that I was going to rip all of it out and start over. So I spent two days doing nothing but ripping stitches every possible chance that I had. Thanks to Lu's latest trick of being able to climb into my bed now I was able to get it requilted in one day. Thank you Disney Channel and iPad!! They saved my bacon. This quilt is hands down my favorite to date. It is a quilt just for me. All of us girls in the house are just in love with Bonnie and Camille's fabric lines. Katy has a quilt made with Scrumptious. Maddi will get one in Daysail when it comes out and I am looking forward to a Miss Kate purchase for Lu. I have my own favorite designers but hands down there is no contest for the house Bonnie and Camille win.

My quilt assistant helping me try and get a half way decent picture of the back.

I also managed to get my mom's Ta-ta quilt sandwiched and ready to quilt. I have picked out two threads to use but I need to do research on using 60 weight thread for quilting. I am undecided if I want the quilting to blend or really POP! I am going to sit on it for a while till I decide what I would prefer.

Now that school is getting ready to start in about 9 days I will get some free time to sew more I hope. With that free time I would really like to work on learning to FMQ. I stick with straight line quilting and while I like it I really thing that I need to broaden my skills. Hopefully I can figure out the hardest part for me. Tension issues! I seriously need a sewing machine tension lesson because no matter what I always get stumped on tension and that is what keeps me from really jumping into FMQ.

Well I think I have jabbered everyone's ear off enough. Time to get some laundry done and get todays outside play time going.

Ya'll have a great day!!!!

Friday Finishes

This is just gonna be a quickie. Lots of summer birthday parties, swimming and all that summer fun has been going on here. :)

I finally got Ry's quilt done. I used three Cherry On Top charm packs and Kona white for the background. Nothing like a zig zag stitch for the quilting.

And just cuz. This is my Katy making a dork face at me when I said smile pretty :P

Hope y'all are having a great summer.

Always catching up :)

I swear summer time flies. It's like the clocks go on warp speed and next thing you know a month has flown by.

I managed to get a few things done. Like above. Miss Ry's birthday quilt. I ran out of basting spray about halfway through the back and pulled a pinch hit by using a glue stick for the edges to hold it down.

I also go my fabric cut for another top. I am using Bartholo-meows Reef Boxes from Moda Bakeshop . I'm using April Showers by Bonnie and Camille. I can't wait to see these blocks come to life. I think this quilt will be a personal one. I adore Bonnie and Camille's fabric lines and don't think I could ever part with another quilt made with them. My middle daughter snatched up the scrumptious quilt :). Once I get my hands on Miss Kate I will make a bed sized quilt.

Hopefully I get some more sewing done. My days have been filled with swimming, bubbles and grilling. I swear busy is the word of the summer :)

I hope you all are having a great summer so far.

Sewing Slump

I feel like I'm in a slump. I really need to get out of it. It feels like my brain is just blah but I want to sew.

These are what I'm working on now. I'm using the Honey Honey Layer Cake from Moda Bakeshop and think pink fabric from Think Pink for Riley Blake Designs. I ADORE this fabric. I'm making one quilt for my mom and one for myself to keep. My grandmother, my mom's mom, passed away from breast cancer so when I found this fabric it was a must have so I could make something for my mom and myself in my mom mom's memory. So that is what I am working on now.

I also sandwiched some Fourth of July fabric and snowman fabric to make reversible table toppers. They just need quilted but I'm hemming and hawing over what color thread to use.

Lastly and I feel guilty for this. My mother in laws quilt. It's a great design and I want to make it but it's not my style so I'm having a hard time getting into it. I am slowly putting pieces together but it's just kind of....eh.

I think once I get the table topper quilted and bound my mojo will come back. I think my slump is from having so many unfinished things going when I need to see completion to feel fulfilled.

It's time to get my sewjo back!!!

Y'all have a great day!!

The After Party

Jeepers creepers I'm still exhausted from yesterday. Lots of cake and presents and fun. Here's some pics from Lu's party. They aren't the best but they show the fun.

Whew. I need a year to recover from all the hoopla.

I hope you all had a great weekend.

I Did It

I joined Instagram. :) I am still figuring it out but feel free to add me or however it works. TylerF8184

Once I get it figured out I'll add a button dooberwally on here.

On the Lu front. She had half her ear test done. One ear is worse than the other however no scarring and minimal fluid so it looks like she won't need tubes. However she still needs a hearing test done so I'm waiting till July to find out if she's stubborn or has hearing issues. My gut is saying stubborn. Hmmmmmm wonder where she got that from.....I'm looking at you Chaz!!!!!!!

T-Minus 2.5 days till Lu's 2nd birthday. Family day Saturday and hoopla birthday party Sunday. I'm excited and sad cuz my baby isn't a baby anymore.

Well it's Wednesday so I have to go to my job and then back home to clean clean clean for Lu's party. We are gonna try and fit some swimming in this afternoon as well.

Y'all have a great day and if I'm not back a great weekend. Birthday pics will be here Monday :)

Magical Monday

This a birthday quilt for my darling neighbors daughter. She is such a peach and great company. I needed something that was a splash of funky with a dash of normal. Vintage Verona was right up her color alley and I decided my crazy version of a disappearing nine patch would work just dandy.

I backed it with some funky paisley prints I had on hand and quilted it with concentric wonkyish squares.

A special thanks to my quilt holders :) Future quilters one day :).

Have a happy birthday Miz Tasia. We love you lots from the top of the hill.

Have a great day everyone.
