It's Hot Out

Oi. Hello summer. Your swealtering hot and I don't like sweating.

I would show you some quilty pics but I've got to be incognito and I don't have any spy like pics of my latest top. :) I can tell you I used fat quarters of my AMH True Colors bundle for it.

I am currently cutting up a layer cake of April Showers to use in a Moda Bakeshop pattern....and waiting for vote fabric I bought off Etsy because my rotary cutter hates me and slipped.

Hmmm oh yeah most important part of the week!!!!!! Lulu is turning 2 on Saturday. Woo woo!!!!!!
So cute in her new bathing suit. Well I gotta get back to watching the big girls play field hockey. Summer leagues started tonight.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Sewjo Saturday!!

It's Saturday!!!!! What are you all up to?

Lu and I tackled our upstairs cleaning today and gave Franklin a bath and then while I had quiet time I worked on a project.

I have two more purses to make and then two quilted zipper bags and all five preteen girlies will have their own bags. The purse pictured was made using the Buttercup Bag pattern. I used the free pattern. I am not a very good bag maker but this pattern is easy and well written so even my two left hands can whip it up :)

Well it's time to figure out what's for dinner and get more work done. We have a busy day tomorrow with a family trip to Knoebels for Chaz's work picnic. Lots of pictures will come Monday :)

Help I'm stuck!!

Ok I need some random advice.

So I was making granny square blocks and in the trimming process (FYI do not trim blocks while sick) I ended up with 30 looks wonky to me blocks.

I NEED to fix this. So here's my thought and I need some quilters to weigh in. Can I sash these blocks that are all wonky and square them up to fix my fiasco of a booger!?!?

I can't believe I did this. It's for a birthday quilt for my neighbors daughter who is just sweet as pie and Lu adores her. I hope I can fix this before she leaves for most of the summer!!

Thanks so much for your help!!!

Eta: we got Lu into a specialist for her ears. I don't know what all will happen yet but don't worry I'll make sure y'all know what happens.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Summer Dresses

Sooooo I did some non quilty sewing last night. One thing I've had a hard time finding for Lu is summer dresses. A lot of colors out don't look good on her so I decided I'll fix this issue. :)

That Girl That Quilt has a great pillow case dress tutorial. I suck at garment sewing but this proved so easy I whipped up two dresses in about an hour and a half.

She's a goofball. She was glued to Cinderella.

Shopping in her new dress :)

I see many many more of these in Lu's future and I know some older girls that will be begging for dresses now lol.

Y'all have a great weekend. I'm cracking down on Sewjo Saturday

Crazy Vintage

So this is my take on a disappearing nine patch. Kind of flows along with how these last few weeks have been. Slightly normal with a dash of crazy. :)

I used Emily Taylor's Vintage Verona line for Riley Blake. I love the prints and the colors. That green and navy really caught my eye.

I love me a disappearing nine patch but I needed something just a smidge off...so instead of cutting straight through the middle row of squares I cut on the diagonal and started firing pieces together. I had zero plan and really didn't tweak anything once it was paired up. It wasn't till it was on the wall that I made just a tiny effort to keep the centers from looking like a single block. Other than that it was a free for all of placing blocks.

I'm still hunting for a back. I have some yardage here but it's not really meshing with my thoughts so I am waiting for backing.

On another note. I have a severely sick toddler. She has a massive ear infection. Like her fifth or sixth this year. So now with that and her lack of speaking we will be heading to a specialist to really give her ears a good lookie loo and see if she needs tubes in her ears. If anyone has ever had to deal with this please feel free to send some info or advice my way. I don't know anything about having tubes put in or how much her infections really are effecting her speech or anything really. All I know is that I want my sickie to be all better. I'd much rather the terrible twos instead of angry sick baby! :)

I dislike yard work!!

Have you sensed my absence?? Cuz I have. I swear it hits 70 degrees steadily and bam the yard work triples. I have spent all my free time trimming bushes, planting my rose bushes from Mother's Day, trimming trees, raking leaves from under pine trees, ripping out a razor bush thinger and holly bushes. Seriously!! I've done all that and more all while keeping two eyes on Lu at all times outside cuz her and Franklin are trouble together. The best kind of trouble. I am thankfully hitting the end of all this yard work. This whole spring jumping into summer has been cleaning up a couple years of let go yard work. At least we didn't let it slide but unfortunately we have to fix the mess. Bleck!!

Onto sewing news. Remember back when I posted about winning a charm pack of Jennifer Sampou's shimmer fabric. Well this is what I made with it.

Pardon the bad picture but it's cloudy and yucky out. Anyhoo it's my bag dispenser. Between a gerbillion small garbage cans and my cats I save my grocery bags and I don't know about you but the ones for sale are too small and too expensive. So I made one big enough to hold the bags for the main floors garbage cans. I have another set sandwiched to make one for my upstairs bag holding area.

Now into some sad news. I am an admitted blanket hoarder. If it's fuzzy and warm I'll buy it and stash it. I love blankets or as I call them wubbies. So to make room for more wubbies I'm going to start listing some of my quilts for sale. I listed three already in my Etsy Shop FromLuluWithLove. I have some sentimental attachment to these quilts so I have hopes they will be well loved and worn out in due time.

Uh oh I have been summoned. :)

Y'all have a great day!!

Back To Normal

Ugh I swear coming home from just a weekend away takes a week to recooperate. We went to Rehobeth for a car show in Ocean City. Holy wow the car show was awesome. We walked up and down almost 60 blocks in Ocean City watching all the neat cars go by. Chaz has the car pictures but I do have a family picture of our day at the beach.

Can you tell Lu had ants in her pants. She hated the sand but wanted to play in the water. Later this summer we will try to head back so she can swim in the ocean.

Since I've been back I managed to turn this

Into this

Now it needs backing. It's Emily Taylor's zombie apocalypse line for Riley Blake and I LOVE it. I used Kona Grass as the back ground and a tutorial for shoo fly blocks from S.O.T.A.K blog. Super quick and easy to whip up and the blocks are big enough you still get the zombies in each piece.

Well nap time is over. Y'all have a great day
